Using information from the patient's profile (medications, allergies, diagnosis and additional patient information), ALTERego suggests interventions that are relevant, personalized and specific to that particular patient. Profiles submitted to ALTERego can be created from scratch or forwarded from patient management software. ALTERego is not a therapeutic advisor, it is a value added service - a little something extra to enhance the services you already provide your patients.

ALTERego comes with basic tools. Over time, additional tools will be added in response to needs identified by Vigilance Santé and user feedback. Whenever possible, Vigilance Santé creates a link between the various tools and information in the patient's file. For example, if you want to promote a health awareness day for patients with osteoporosis, ALTERego will do the work. The software will analyze the file being consulted to locate specific information:

is there a drug for treating osteoporosis in the patient's file?
has this patient been diagnosed with osteoporosis?

If the answer to either question is yes, the pharmacist will receive an invitation, addressed to this patient, to attend the osteoporosis health awareness day. This is what ALTERego does. Nothing however, is imposed. Among all the tools available through Vigilance Santé, users are free to choose those that are of particular interest to them.

Software managers

Making changes to patient management software is time consuming, costly and requires input from a development team that is already in high demand. Vigilance Santé can readily develop and integrate practical tools to ALTERego using information in patient profiles. If a company has developed an interface with ALTERego, no further development is required when adding new tools.

Groups of pharmacies

For groups of pharmacies, ALTERego can be an invaluable tool for deploying professional programs. Those who use different patient management software can, through ALTERego, access the same tools. Furthermore, "exclusive" tools can be developed and deployed for certain groups.
