Your role
Reporting to the Vice President of Technology, you will act as the direct manager and coach of a team of approximately 20 to 25 developers and QA analysts working across different product teams. Here, people management isn't a secondary responsibility — it's at the heart of the role.
While product leaders oversee projects and deliveries, and technical leads guide architectural decisions, your focus will be on the people behind the technology.
Working closely with product team leaders and technical leads, you will create an environment where everyone can perform at their best, grow, and thrive, while ensuring consistency in software development and quality assurance practices and fostering an engaging, people-focused management culture across teams.
More specifically, you will be responsible for:
People Management and Development
- Act as the direct manager and coach of approximately 20 to 25 developers and QA analysts, supporting their employee experience, engagement, and professional development.
- Hold regular one-on-one meetings, provide constructive feedback, and support each team member in their performance, career aspirations, and professional growth — including guiding them toward either a technical expertise or management career path.
- Manage performance evaluations and development plans, recognize individual strengths, and identify high-potential talent.
- Foster employee engagement, retention, team cohesion, and a sense of belonging, even when team members work across different product teams or in a hybrid environment.
- Create an environment where expectations are clear and feedback is part of everyday interactions.
- Proactively identify challenges related to workload, collaboration, engagement, or performance, and address them with sound judgment and transparency when needed.
Technical Leadership Development
- Support technical leads in growing as leaders through regular coaching, clear role expectations and practices, and constructive feedback.
- Strengthen their technical leadership within their respective teams rather than taking over their responsibilities — local technical decisions remain under their ownership.
Engineering Excellence and Quality
- Support technical leads in growing as leaders through regular coaching, clear role expectations and practices, and constructive feedback.
- Strengthen their technical leadership within their respective teams rather than taking over their responsibilities — local technical decisions remain under their ownership.
Enabling Product Delivery
- Support Product Directors and Product Owners (POs) in achieving their objectives, including delivery predictability, team health, and autonomy, while product priorities and scope remain defined within the product teams.
- Work closely with product leaders and technical leads to gain a clear understanding of team members' day-to-day realities and ensure consistent, effective support.
Talent Management and Support to the VP of Technology
- Participate in talent acquisition and ensure successful onboarding and development of new team members, helping them become fully autonomous in their roles.
- Support the Vice President of Technology in capacity planning, talent allocation, and employee engagement, retention, and development initiatives, using data to inform decisions.
